No rate cuts this year after blow-out jobs report

A blowout jobs report has deflated hopes of a rate cut before Christmas and reinforced expectations in the market that the Reserve Bank will not be lowering borrowing costs anytime soon.

The data – which showed employment surged by 64,100 in September from August – smashed economists expectations for a 25,000 gain and kept the jobless rate at a revised 4.1 per cent.
