While senior police officers publicly express confidence that they will work with the tools they are given and find solutions to the post-Brexit landscape, some are privately glum about the implications even if there is a deal.

There is hope that UK law enforcement will retain access to some database and information sharing. But there is an expectation that information sharing with key European partners will be slower, more complicated and cumbersome — and could affect public safety.
